With the release of the War Within in less than a week, everyone is getting excited for the new content. One of the first step to start exploring the new expansion is leveling your characters from 70 to the new max level 80. In this article, we will show you five ways to quickly level up in the newest expansion of World of Warcraft. If you want to jump straight into the end game content without the leveling grind, our friends at WowVendor got your back with many WoW power leveling options.

Main story quest

The War Within expansion have 4 new zones: Isle of Dorne, Ringing Deeps, Hall Of Fall, and Ashah Hat. Main story campaign has a total of 12 chapters split evenly between 4 zones with 3 chapters per zone. For your first character, we recommend prioritizing the main story quests, since completing them will grant access to it for your alts through Adventure Mode, unlocking World quest, and a variety of new activities. We recommend to follow this zone order since mobs in each zone have a specific level range:

  • Isle of Dorne: 70 to 73
  • Ringing Deeps: 73 to 75
  • Hall of Fall: 75 to 78
  • Ashah Hat: 78 to 80

These quests provide a lot of experience but not enough for you to hit the level cap, but there are more activities for you to do. World quest experiences are almost double from normal quests but you can only unlock them after at least one of your characters hits level 80 and finish all main story quests. So you can use World Quest for leveling up alt but not your first character.

Professions

After you finish a few intro quests in the Isle of Dorne, you will unlock sky diving and fly to the main city Dornogal. From here you can learn Herbalism or Mining to do some gathering while doing quests. Gathering professions provide not only experience but also materials for other professions. In the early of an expansion, materials prices are always high so you can save them for use or sell them for gold on the auction house.

Delves

The War Within expansion introduces a new type of PvE content called Delves. You can play Delves while leveling or as end-game content with weekly rewards. Delves are short, instanced scenarios that you can complete alone or with a group of 2-5 players in approximately 10-20 minutes. A party of 1-4 players is accompanied by a seasonal NPC companion, who can act as a combatant or healer. This allows everyone to play Delves with their favorite classes and specs. Delves and quests related to delves provide experience and many other rewards like gold, gears, cosmetics, collectible rewards, and an exclusive mount: Delver’s Dirigible. The experience gained from delves scales with your level, so the higher your level, the more experience you will receive. Spamming delves is a decent way to level up your alt.

Side story quest

Keep in mind that side-story quests provide rewards such as experience, gear, and reputation. However, they do not unlock new areas like the main story and delve quests. Nevertheless, they contribute to building the game world and make the playing experience more immersive. Each zone contains many side quests, ranging from small, amusing tasks to short storylines. The amount of experience from each zone-side quest can grant a level or two. With Warband system making reputation and many rewards account-wide progression, now you can finish side story quest on your alt and still earn reputation and appearance of any gear type even if they cannot equip it.

Another important thing to note is World Events. These are side quest-like activities that happen when you travel through different zones and enter specific areas for the first time. These events have simple objectives, such as killing mobs or gathering items in a certain area. As a result, they provide a significant experience reward and sometimes offer something extra, so be sure to keep an eye out for them.

Dungeons

Spamming dungeons is one of the fastest ways to level up, but this method also comes with many restrictions.

First, if you level up by spamming dungeon on your first character, you will still have to finish all main quests in order to unlock World quest and many other activities. You can do those quests faster with higher gear and level though.

The efficiency of dungeon farming depends on how quickly you can clear the dungeon. The faster you clear, the sooner you can queue for another one. This means you want the tank to make larger pulls and for the DPS to deal more damage. However, these require skill, and not every random player from the Dungeon Finder can pull it off. Also, even if you are a skilled DPS, the queue times for DPS in the dungeon finder are always longer than for tanks and healers, which greatly reduces the effectiveness of this leveling method.

To make dungeon spam leveling work, we recommend forming a party of players with decent skills, with any combination of roles, as long as it’s not all DPS. Or you can only do one daily random dungeon for the bonus experience reward and do other methods for faster and easier leveling.
