When doing photo shoots in Las Vegas, you may want to shoot in a variety of different locations. This means you are likely to do a considerable amount of walking and must wear comfortable shoes. You should also be aware that at many venues such as state parks, you may need permits and have to pay fees. It helps to find out ahead of time where clients would like to have photos taken.
Las Vegas Strip
The colorful neon flashing signs, glamor, and glitz make the Las Vegas Strip a famous photo shoot location. Photographing inside casinos or even on casino grounds isn’t technically legal. As a photographer, you may need to make some alternative suggestions if clients are set on this. Some resorts may ask you to move on if your photo shoot disrupts a sidewalk outside.
With the expansion of online casinos, it is convenient to gamble from anywhere at any time today. There’s no need to visit a brick-and-mortar casino to gamble, and you don’t need to have a photo shoot inside as there are so many other amazing locations. The awe-inspiring Bellagio Fountains is a great location for a photo shoot. Another is the canals filled with gondolas at the Venetian. It’s probably best to get a photo shoot in at times when foot traffic is at a minimum in these venues.
Downtown Vegas shots
Some of the venues where you can arrange a photo shoot in downtown Las Vegas include the Neon Museum, Fremont Street, or the Mob Museum. To book a family photo session or a fashion shoot, you need to submit a request and find out how much a session will cost.
The Neon Museum features signs from old casinos on The Strip, and you need a photography permit to take in a camera. Fremont Street is located about 10 minutes north of The Strip. It features classic neon signs, and nearby side streets are full of murals created by well-known global artists. Photo shoots in the Mob Museum are generally scheduled to take place between 7 am and 9 am before it’s open to the public.
Las Vegas desert shots
Red Rock Canyon is an impressive location for a photo shoot and it’s located not that far away from the Strip. You must acquire a permit to shoot there at least 30 days before. Shooting in the Valley of Fire, located about an hour’s drive north of Las Vegas, can provide otherworldly shots. The backdrop of incredible red rocks will create impressive shots for your photography portfolio. You will need permits to enter any conservation areas.
The Art Motel
The Art Motel is hidden in the arts district. The vacant motel is now a huge interactive art exhibit. When the Life is Beautiful music and arts festival takes place annually, the murals are updated. This is a good spot to take photos in Las Vegas and capture its art culture.
Seven Magic Mountains
When traveling to LA, you will find Seven Magic Mountains off the side of Interstate 15 and about 20 minutes from The Strip. This is the creation of artist Ugo Rondinone and signifies a ‘creative expression of human presence in the desert.’ It’s completely free to visit and taking photos in the early morning or at the golden hour is best. The seven towers of stacked boulders in vibrant colors are over 30 feet high.
Nelson Ghost Town
Nelson Ghost Town is located about 45 minutes away from The Strip. You will step into the old Wild West with this abandoned gold mine featuring burning man tributes, old movie sets, and outdoor art displays. You can see historical artifacts and a collection of vintage cars. This is a great spot for a photo shoot with a Western influence.
